10 Minute Oven Baked Tostadas

Here we are again. Chatting it up about a way to make your life a bit better through cooking. Honestly, I can’t get enough talking to you about this. I don’t think we can ever have enough conversation about getting you the time and things you want. And this week is no different. I have for you a recipe that is super-duper easy to make. And not only is it easy, but it’s quick too! The perfect combination if you ask me. It’s 10 minute oven baked tostadas! And you’ll know why I added an exclamation point when you give them a try. They are good girl and will allow you to spend less time in the kitchen and more time where you actually want to be.

I thought about sharing this recipe with you because me and the fam love tacos! And let me be perfectly honest with you, I’ve never celebrated or took part in Taco Tuesday. Not because I’m a rebel but because I don’t think it should be reserved for one day out of the week. When you think about it, it should actually be called Taco Today because every day can be taco day. Yeah, I know what you’re thinking…this recipe isn’t about tacos, so why am I talking about them. Well, even though these are tostadas, they are actually the same thing as tacos but in a different shape. The only difference between tostadas and tacos is how you hold it to eat. And now that I think about it, at least the name should be changed to Tortilla Tuesday to give people some options!

10 Minute Oven Baked Tostadas

Okay, now that you know all about tacos, tostadas, and Tuesdays, here’s really the reason I’m sharing this recipe with you. First off, they are one of the quickest meals you will make. I mean, they literally take no more than 15 minutes from start to finish. And I only added an extra 5 just to give you some wiggle room just in case you’re moving a little slow that day. Also aside from them being quick, they are also easy peasy! I’m not kidding. If you have trouble making these, I will personally invite you over for a cooking tutorial. But I know you can make these, they are fail proof!

I also love this recipe because it takes the load off of you a bit. You could ask your husband or kids to make them. And even if you have to bake the tortillas, the rest of your family can top their own tostadas. You can make it a family bonding moment. Everyone can go around the table and talk about why they like specific toppings. Or make a game out of it by seeing who can top their tostada the fastest. What I’m really saying is have fun with this. Cooking isn’t about being stiff, it’s about enjoying the end result with those you love!

Alright, enough of that, let me tell you how easy this is to make. First, preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Next, line a baking sheet with foil and arrange as many tortillas as will fit on the sheet without overlapping. You might have to make multiple batches depending on the size of your baking sheet. Now brush both sides of the tortillas with olive oil and sprinkle on some salt. Next, place the tortillas in the oven and bake for 8 minutes, turning over after 4 minutes. Once the time is up, you can remove them from the oven and transfer them to a paper towel lined plate for cooling. Last but not least, you now can enjoy them by adding your favorite toppings. Some suggestions are refried beans, chicken, avocado, sour cream, lettuce, tomato, black beans, and salsa.

Ingredients

  • 6 flour tortillas
  • 2 tbsp olive oil divided between tortillas
  • 1 tsp salt divided between tortillas
  • refried beans for topping
  • tomatoes, diced for topping
  • lettuce, shredded for topping
  • cheese, Mexican blend for topping
  • salsa for topping
  • corn kernels for topping

Instructions
