It’s your lucky day because I’m sharing my top 3 cooking tips to create space in your life. But before I get there, can I let you in on a secret? Cooking is actually your friend. Although you may it as being a pain in your butt, trust me, cooking has your back. Think about it this way…cooking is the one of the few things you can control in your life. The good friend that does what you tell her to do without blinking twice. The good friend that will help you find time in your life for the things you love.
So like I said, cooking is your friend, not your enemy. Stop scrunching your face up when it’s time to feed the fam. Stop rolling your eyes when you need to make a meal plan. Smile and be happy you have a friend that you can control and that will be the first make sure you make space and time for what matters most to you.
Are you ready for the tips, okay…here they are.
#1 The 80/20 Rule
The way the 80/20 rule works is 80% of the time you will do what I like to call “preferred cooking.” This means cooking the way you prefer to cook. If you’re into crockpot meals, cook this way. If you love one pot meals, do your thing. Think about what ways of cooking feels natural or the most enjoyable for you and make sure 80% of the time you cook in this way.
Now for the 20%, you can experiment a bit. This is the time for trying new things. So if you’ve never used a pressure cooker and feel ready to give it a try, this is the time. You can also include trying new foods as well to this 20%. The 80/20 rule is very helpful in creating space and time because when you cook in a way that you prefer and like, you’re more confident and quicker which adds more time to your day! The 80/20 rule is the way to go.
#2 Bougie Recipe Selection
If you ever wanted to act bougie in your life, this is the time. This is a judgement free zone because being bougie is what this next tip requires. Recipe selection is so important for cooking and creating space. You have to be very particular aka “bougie” when choosing your recipes or you could be stacking the odds against yourself.
So when it comes to choosing recipes, make sure you look for recipes that are simple, quick, or time efficient. Simple recipes have few ingredients and steps. Quick recipes are recipes that take 30 minutes or less from start to finish. And time efficient recipes are meals that may take some time to bake or cook, but while cooking you can do other things in the meantime. These are the best recipes for creating space, so be sure to be bougie the next time your searching for recipes. And if you don’t know where to go for recipes, I always recommend Pinterest because it has a huge recipe bank.
