Today I’m bringing you an apple oat snack recipe your entire family will enjoy. It is a quick snack for after school or even to have after a long day at work when you need a little pick me up! You will appreciate the ease and lack of effort it takes to make these. And if you and your family are nut butter and chocolate lovers, just wait…you’re gonna love these!
As a kid, I always loved after school snacks because it gave me the energy I needed to do my homework. And as an adult, I love a good snack just because. It’s something about snacks that pep you up and makes your day more enjoyable. And these apple oat snacks will definitely do just that. They are nut buttery, full of tasty oats, and drizzled in chocolate goodness. I promise your kids will never complain about doing homework once they taste these. And they’re not only for your kids, but also for you. Pour a glass of wine and snack on these babies and you will be in love. Just try it!
How To Make It
It’s super easy. All you need to do is slice your apples in wedges, usually 1 large apple will make 8 wedges. This next step is optional and best to do if you know it will be awhile before you or your kids can eat them. This step is adding the apple wedges to a large bowl of lemon water and letting it sit for about 5 minutes. While the apples are soaking in the bath, melt your chocolate chips in the microwave according to the package instructions. Now it’s time to start layering on the goodness. First spread your nut butter onto the slices. Then coat the apples with oats. And lastly, drizzle on the melted chocolate. Super simple and really quick. You will be done making this snack in no time!
What Does A Lemon Bath Do?
The lemon bath helps to prevent the apples from browning really quickly. This is an optional step if you and your family will not be eating the apples within a few minutes of making them.
For this recipe, you can use whichever nut butter you and your family love. I used sunflower seed butter because my husband is allergic to nuts, but feel free to play around with different nut butters. Some of my favs are peanut butter and almond butter. Also if you enjoy white chocolate, you could do a combination of chocolates. Cooking is all about having fun and making it your own, so play around with this snack!
How To Store:
This snack is best eaten immediately after making but you can store them in the refrigerator in an airtight container or covered with plastic wrap until they are ready to be eaten for a nice cold, delicious snack.

Apple Oat Snacks
Apple Oat Snacks | Snacks
- 2 large apples, cored and sliced in wedges of choice
- 1/4 cup nut or seed butter of choice
- 3/4 cup old fashioned rolled oats
- 1/4 cup milk chocolate chips, melted
Lemon Water (optional)
- 4 cups water
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
Core and slice apples into medium wedges (2 large apples should make 16 apple wedges).
For soaking apples in lemon water: Place water in large bowl and add lemon juice. Place apples in lemon water to soak for at least 5 minutes.
Remove apples from lemon water and place on paper towel or wax paper.
Begin to layer ingredients on apples.
To apples, spread on nut/seed butter and coat apples with oats.
Once all apples are coated with nut/seed butter and oats, lastly drizzle melted chocolate over all apples.
Enjoy immediately or store until ready to be eaten.
Storing: Store apples in an airtight container or on a plate covered with plastic wrap for up to 2 hours in refrigerator.
